Is this because Your Humble Blogger stopped reading? Not likely. No, this is a thing that seems to happen in the autumn (unless I’m misremembering, which is fairly likely, and I am not inclined to go back and do actual research in the name of accuracy, preferring to make inaccurate memory-based claims so there) where I get behind in Book Reports, and then get further behind, and then get all cross about how far behind I’ve let myself go, which makes me reluctant to work on them, which of course means I fall further behind. And then I hit a point, I think usually in November or so but a bit early this year, where I resolve that this year will be my last Book Report year, but that I will at least finish up the calendar year, which means doing some serious catching-up first. Then, in January sometime, I do my Year in Books, which I really enjoy, and decide that it is worth doing the Reports.\n
Which it is. So here’s my Report on Odds Against<\/a>, the First Syd Halley One. It’s an early Dick Francis, which means that it isn’t as dickfranciscan as some of the later ones, although it’s a Big Deal one, which means that it is more dickfrancesque than some of the later ones which are really dickfrancisish by virtue of being like this one.
