This is proto-Psmith, Psmith at Pschool. We meet him on the very day he adds the silent P to his name, in fact, the day he arrives at a small public school and meets Mike Jackson. If we are really lunatics on the subject, we have met Mike earlier, in the first Twenty-nine chapters of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gutenberg.org\/etext\/7423\">Mike<\/a>, where we follow the eponymous hero through his cricketing youth.\n<p>Actually, Mike&#8217;s cricketing youth was originally a separate story&#8212;you know how these went in those days, right?
