{"id":14626,"date":"2013-08-19T11:09:43","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T15:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/vardibidian\/2013\/08\/19\/14626.html"},"modified":"2018-03-13T19:06:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T00:06:21","slug":"eight-letters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/vardibidian\/2013\/08\/19\/eight-letters\/","title":{"rendered":"Eight letters!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I was asked this morning to bring down all the books by Ellsworth Grant. <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.courant.com\/2013-03-14\/community\/hc-ellsworth-grant-dies-0314-20130313_1_west-hartford-mayor-nan-glass-ellsworth-grant\">Mr. Grant<\/a> was the mayor here for a while, and was kind of the unofficial state historian. One of those fellows who knew everybody, and was likely enough everybody&#8217;s cousin. Anyway, a quick look through the catalogue yielded a couple of dozen books and films in a variety of categories.\n<P>I had mentioned <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/vardibidian\/2007\/11\/25\/10747.html\">at one point<\/a> that Jessica Mitford had books in five letter categories in the LC system, which I found pretty impressive. Mr. Grant has items in our library under E, F, G, H (HC, HD and HV), J, P, T and&#8212;believe it or not, as you like&#8212;V. Eight! Wow.
