{"id":1505,"date":"2003-10-16T12:58:53","date_gmt":"2003-10-16T16:58:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/vardibidian\/2003\/10\/16\/1505.html"},"modified":"2018-03-12T16:43:28","modified_gmt":"2018-03-12T21:43:28","slug":"on-drugs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/vardibidian\/2003\/10\/16\/on-drugs\/","title":{"rendered":"On Drugs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Your Humble Blogger is not, as it happens, a huge fan of Geov Parrish, but I found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workingforchange.com\/article.cfm?ItemID=15818\">a recent column<\/a> of his on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workingforchange.com\/index.cfm\">the Working for Change site<\/a> very provocative.\n\n<p>I'm not a libertarian on the drug issue; I approve, more or less, of the government regulating the use of mind-altering or even emotion-altering drugs, particularly addictive ones. But Mr. Parrish is persuasive that if Mr. Limbaugh could work at the level he did for so long whilst abusing OxyContin, then perhaps OxyContin is not such a terror as we had been led to believe.\n\n<p>Of course, it's not a surprise that even within the drug war, which is a questionable use of national resources to begin with, resources are allocated absurdly. If you are interested in that topic, the excellent David S.
