Oh, and it won some award or other. Anyway, it was a pretty random choice, and it was a pretty good book, without being particularly memorable in any way. It&#8217;s Scottish enough, and violent enough, and quite dirty-minded without actually being dirty.\n<p>It&#8217;s somewhat old-fashioned in content, and not so new-fangled in style that a person can&#8217;t actually read it. It&#8217;s not a mystery, as such, in the sense that it&#8217;s not a puzzle or a who-dunnit, but a crime novel.
