{"id":1488,"date":"1996-08-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1996-08-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/wander\/1996\/08\/01\/glossary\/"},"modified":"2018-01-01T19:57:24","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T03:57:24","slug":"glossary","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/wander\/glossary\/","title":{"rendered":"Glossary"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>A probably unnecessary brief set of definitions for possibly unfamiliar terms I mention.<\/p>\r\n<dl>\r\n  <dt id=\"con\">con<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>Short for \"convention.\" <a href=\"#sf\">sf<\/a> cons are the glue that holds the sf world together: places for fans and creators to meet, talk, interact, have parties.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt id=\"filk\">filk<\/dt>\r\n  <dd><a href=\"#sf\">sf<\/a> songs. Filk can refer to lyrics and\/or music written by an sf author or fan; or it can refer to any new set of lyrics written to be sung to an existing tune. The term derives from a smeared mimeograph that printed \"folksong\" so it looked like \"filksong.\" I'll provide a link to some filk pages when I get a chance.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt id=\"GM\">GM<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>Gamemaster. The person who runs an RPG.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt id=\"ISP\">ISP<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>Internet Service Provider.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt id=\"RPG\">RPG<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>Roleplaying game.
