Some day, I should sit down and read more published South Asian writing to try and get a better feel for Indian English.<\/p>\n<p>(I've read a few novels by South Asian authors, but not enough for a representative sample yet.)<\/p>\n<p>See also: the online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vsubhash.com\/Dictionary_Of_Indian_English.asp\">Dictionary of Indian English<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.india-seminar.com\/2001\/500\/500%20dharma%20kumar.htm\">108 varieties of Indian English<\/a>; a 2004 paper from <cite>Language in India<\/cite> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.languageinindia.com\/aug2004\/dlamallikarjun1.html\">linguistic majority-minority relations in India<\/a>; and a page of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundcomparisons.com\/Eng\/Direct\/Englishes\/SglLgIndianEnglishStandard.htm\">audio pronunciations of English words in New Delhi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That last, btw, is from the extremely useful-looking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ling.ed.ac.uk\/research\/gsound\/Eng\/Database\/Phonetics\/Englishes\/SiteSections\/Welcome.htm\">Accents of English from around the world<\/a> website.
