{"id":17277,"date":"2018-03-30T23:57:43","date_gmt":"2018-03-31T06:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/?p=17277"},"modified":"2018-03-30T23:58:32","modified_gmt":"2018-03-31T06:58:32","slug":"name-dominoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/2018\/03\/30\/name-dominoes\/","title":{"rendered":"Name dominoes"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>A recent <cite>xkcd<\/cite> strip introduced the game of <a href=\"https:\/\/xkcd.com\/1970\/\">name dominoes<\/a> (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/xkcd.com\/1970\/large\/\">large version of image<\/a>).<\/p>\r\n<p>I\u2019m a little surprised to see that I haven\u2019t posted before about making chains of names; I\u2019ve been doing it now and then for a long time. But usually I only get linear chains of three or four names before I run into an unusual name and give up. <cite>xkcd<\/cite> adds a whole new dimension.<\/p>\r\n<p>I have posted before about movie-title chains; see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/1997\/07\/20\/chains\/\">column C<\/a> (and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/1997\/07\/21\/chains-comments\/\">reader comments page<\/a>), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/1997\/09\/28\/marquee\/\">column M<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/2000\/10\/08\/tttitles\/\">column TTT<\/a>. But I don\u2019t seem to have posted about chains of people\u2019s names.<\/p>\r\n<p>PS: I\u2019m disappointed to see that after over two months of posting here every day, I missed yesterday, and almost missed today.
