{"id":17787,"date":"2019-02-08T09:30:14","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T17:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/?p=17787"},"modified":"2019-02-02T11:00:25","modified_gmt":"2019-02-02T19:00:25","slug":"hax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/2019\/02\/08\/hax\/","title":{"rendered":"hax"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>I recently read the following line in Orson Scott Card\u2019s novel <cite>Prentice Alvin<\/cite>, talking about a magical thing shaped like a hexagon:<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\u2026lay hexes down on a table and they'd fit snug together, as perfect as squares, only stronger, woven not with warp and weft, but with warp and weft and hax.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>I\u2019m guessing that Card made up the word <i>hax<\/i>, but I wonder if there\u2019s some other similar word that he based it on. TSOR didn\u2019t help\u2014most of the search results for [hax] are OCR typos for <i>flax<\/i>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Any of you know anything more about the word <i>hax<\/i> in this context?
