The bottom is by James Wolff and reads &#039;Beside the Syrian S-&#039;.\" width=\"500\" height=\"88\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17809\" \/>\r\n\r\n<p>I\u2019ve turned the picture on its side for ease of reading. I guessed that the top one was <cite>The Secret of Southern Comfort<\/cite>. I was, alas mistaken\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simonandschuster.com\/books\/The-Secret-to-Southern-Charm\/Kristy-Woodson-Harvey\/The-Peachtree-Bluff-Series\/9781501158100\">the actual title<\/a> is less interesting to me, but what do I know. The other one I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitterlemonpress.com\/products\/beside-the-syrian-sea\">guessed correctly<\/a>. Some are easier than others.\r\n<p>Here are three more, from the teen room this time:\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/2019-02-09-13.31.44-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"Three book spines, with the end of the titles obscured by stickers. The bottom one reads &#039;Ink, Iron and Gl -&#039;.\" width=\"500\" height=\"183\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17815\" \/>\r\n\r\n<p>The top one is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmhbooks.com\/shop\/books\/The-Forest-Queen\/9780544888197\">tricky<\/a>; the middle one is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lbyr.com\/titles\/brandy-colbert\/finding-yvonne\/9780316349062\/\">impossible<\/a>; the bottom one is <a href=\"https:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/books\/9781250112767\">obvious<\/a>, at least on those of us who have been playing this game on the teen shelves for a while.\r\n<p>How about another set?\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/2019-02-09-13.32.28-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"Three book spines, with the end of the titles obscured by stickers. The bottom one reads &#039;The Darkest Minds: The Darkest -&#039;.\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17814\" \/>\r\n\r\n<p>For the top one, I guessed it was <cite>A Brilliant Dawn<\/cite>, but my child pointed out that you could see that the letter after D was straight-backed, and therefore probably an E or an R. It is in fact\u2014well, I won\u2019t give away the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/561710\/the-brilliant-death-by-amy-rose-capetta\/9780451478443\/\">answer<\/a>, but I would not have guessed it. For the middle one, the obvious answer is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/9780062820228\/this-is-kind-of-an-epic-love-story\/\">the correct one<\/a>, but for the last one the obvious answer is not the correct one\u2014it\u2019s in the Darkest Mind series (as it says on the spine), but this one is the Darkest <a href=\"https:\/\/books.disney.com\/book\/the-darkest-legacy\/\">something else<\/a>.\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/2019-02-09-13.38.03-300x55.jpg\" alt=\"A book spine, with the end of the title obscured by stickers. The author is Laura Sebastian, and the spine reads &#039;Lady Sm-&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"55\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17812\" \/>\r\n<p>I was really pleased that I guessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/556377\/lady-smoke-by-laura-sebastian\/9781524767105\/\">this one<\/a>, but my kid got with no hesitation whatsoever. Maybe it was easier than I thought.\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/2019-02-09-13.36.56-300x29.jpg\" alt=\"A book spine, with the end of the title obscured by stickers. The authors are Ness and Cai, and the spine reads &#039;And the Ocean was Our-&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"29\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17811\" \/>\r\n\r\n<p>This one I have guessed incorrectly on three consecutive visits to the teen room. <i>The Ocean was our<\/i>\u2026 home? <i>The Ocean was our<\/i>\u2026 mother? <i>The Ocean was our<\/i>\u2026 destiny? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/9780062860729\/and-the-ocean-was-our-sky\/\">Nope<\/a>.\r\n<p>OK, one more for today:\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/2019-02-09-13.34.26-300x52.jpg\" alt=\"A book spine, with the end of the title obscured by stickers.
