It's more or less 6:30pm in Baghdad, unless I'm very much mistaken, and the sun's been down for twenty minutes or so. It looks like there may be war before dawn. Or maybe tomorrow - same bagh-time, same bagh-channel.
I am still ambivalent about the whole enterprise, but that's not really an issue now. Now we hope, and the prayerfully minded pray, for the best possible outcome: a quick surrender, few deaths, a rebuilding accomplished with skill and delicacy, a sobering reminder of the responsibilities and obligations of being (as we have now proclaimed ourselves to be) the world's policeman.
How do you like our new mantle? Heavy, isn't it?
Thank you,
-Vardibidian.
