By the way, for those of you not familiar with the Naxos label, they not only have a tremendous selection of quality recordings at terrific prices, they also have Naxos Radio, to which Your Humble Blogger is listening right now. Ten channels of free streaming audio, in various categories of vocal, orchestral, and chamber music.
I am a particular fan of their Early Music line, and highly recommend Chominciamento di gioia: Virtuoso Dance Music from the Time of Boccaccio's Decamerone, with the remarkable Ensemble Unicorn, and Early Venetian Lute Music, with Christopher Wilson. Every CD from Naxos I've bought has had terrific recording quality, either early music or any other. Good stuff.
As long as I'm at it, in the early music genre, I also like Piffaro and of course Jordi Savall, particularly the Hesperion XX disc Elizabethan Consort Music, 1558-1603 and the amazing 5-disc set of Marin Marais Pièces de Viole, as well as Paul O'Dette (you can pick up the English Country Dances fairly cheaply).
See? Your Humble Blogger is not just a political animal.
