Your Humble Blogger has been laying off the day-to-day politics of late, as it only makes him mad. Besides, there are plenty of blogs you can go to for your daily dose of Bush-bashing; I have nothing to offer on that front that the Daily Kos or the Left Coaster does not. Still, sometimes a blogger just gotta vent.
The AP's Leigh Strope is reporting that Our Only President is proposing to diminish the pay raises promised to more than a million federal workers. These are raises they were told to expect in January, although I expect many if not most of them were expecting this instead. I imagine a million people were just thrilled to get their $300 checks, and have their raises cut by at least that amount. In his letter to Congress, he says, "I do not believe this decision will materially affect our ability to continue to attract and retain a quality Federal workforce." Well, probably not, as the job shortage is now so bad that even insulting people in this manner will not drive them to seek nonexistent better jobs elsewhere. That doesn't make it right.
After that, it's just rubbing the sore spot that Our Only President says that "A national emergency has existed since September 11, 2001". That is, an emergency without end. A co-worker remarked that as far as he was concerned, a state of national emergency has existed since January 20, 2001. I pass the line along without prejudice, for what it is worth.
