So, I was, grudgingly, pleased when Our Only President admitted that the events at Abu Ghraid disgraced him. However, Geoffrey Pullum points out that given (a) President Bush’s difficulty with extemporaneous speaking, (2) his stated position that he feels he hasn’t been disgraced, and (iii) the way he said what he actually said, it’s pretty likely that Our Only President only meant to say he was disgusted, or perhaps dismayed.

He was disgraced, of course, as were we all. I try to keep focus on the important part, which is that the events worked against our national interests (pretty much however you define them) as well as the interests of the residents of Iraq. Still, it would be nice to believe that Our Only President understands his disgrace. Perhaps I can continue to believe it.

Nope. Feh.
