Krapp’s Last Fisk

I’ve just been looking through some old posts by that little bastard I thought I was thirty years ago. Hard to believe I was ever as bad as that. That’s all done with, anyway.
Thirty-nine today, and sound as a bell. Apart from my old weakness. I spent some time recently looking back at old posts. Didn’t click on the calendar, just searched for random words. Black Ball. Viduity. That CSS. Such a n00b. Teh Lame!!1!!
Hah. Baxx01s.
I’m just at the crest, I think I’d call it, of the blogging wave.
No, UR in my BLOG, eating my bananas.
A year of gloom and indulgence, until that flame war in March, sitting in the Starbucks, with the free wifi, when suddently I saw the whole thing

Wanker. Seventeen hits, of which eleven from spiderbots with .ru IP addresses. Getting known! Technorati! Bananas.

I commented to her lj, just lying my entry between her posts. I asked her to link to me. She did. Those templates...
I surfed the web, earlier before the summer got cold. I sat at YouTube, shivering, waiting for a download, itching to log off. Not a soul. I only post once a year now. Nothing to say. Nothing to say! Not a link.

Revelled in the word blog just now, though. Blog. Blaaaaaaaahg. Happiest moment of the last several million.

By the way, I thought at the time, but I didn’t say so, that this was excellent.

    Big Beckett fan, here.

Well, medium-sized Beckett fan. There is much of his stuff that I haven’t encountered, but what I have looked at, I loved 🙂

I’m also a big Beckett fan who until recently had encountered very little of his stuff. I highly recommend Beckett on Film; see if your local library has it or can get it. I was particularly stunned by What Where recently; it’s a short play that I imagine is rarely (if ever) performed, but it is incredibly powerful. There’s an Authorized Beckett television production somewhere, but I imagine it’s harder to find than the Beckett on Film one.

    Thanks,
    -V.

I got deeply into the theater of the absurd when I was a theater major, back in the dark ages. You ever read Sam Shepard’s early stuff? Not very Beckett, much more Shepard, but absurdist, you know? Dug it lots 🙂

I’ll investigate the Beckett on Film thing.

A Propos of very little, my buddy, Jamey, named his cats Sam and Beckett. Good cats 😀

    peace
    Matt
