So, there's an end-of-year lj sort of meme that takes the first sentence (usually) from each month of the year. Doing so for this Tohu Bohu yields
As often happens when I am in the library listlessly looking for something to read, and not being particularly moved by anything, I checked out the latest Terry Pratchett./Your Humble Blogger hasn’t read the State of the Union address yet, and perhaps I will and perhaps I won’t, but I’ve been meaning to mention something about Health Savings Accounts, which I understand Our Only President continues to push, although he didn’t make so much of a big deal about them in the speech./Is Your Humble Blogger out of the loop, or is it not common knowledge that Tom “Boycott Domino’s” Monaghan is building a papist city in Florida?/I think I’ve mentioned, here in this Tohu Bohu, that I’m not a Zionist./A trifle over one year ago, I wrote about fascism in America and in general, working from the American Heritage definition:/Hello again, Gentle Readers./Your Humble Blogger has had a couple of interesting conversations recently about wordless picture books./This is, I think, the last bit of the interview meme./What YHB should probably do is knock out a half-dozen Book Reports, just because being so far behind makes the thing seem more like a chore and less like a treat./Well, and the scandal de jour is about a nasty, stinking Republican Congressman diddling little boys./What should somebody interested in politics and rhetoric say about the latest screwup by Senator Kerry?/Song of Songs, Chapter Two, verse eight: The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.I thought, however, that it might be more interesting to chose the last line of the last entry of the month, going back to the end of December 2005, which yields
I can’t quite bring myself to close the note, though, without pointing out that the bastard mine-owners, and the bastard union-bosses left in complicity with them (although I understand that the unions that didn’t let bastard collaborators run them were crushed, with the help of our national government and the Republican Party and the bastard collaborators in my own Party) are still killing mine workers, and are still killing them, and are still fucking killing mine workers to make a buck./Didn’t we just have Halloween last year?/Let’s fuck that up!/OK, I think that’ll do./But what can you do?/It’s an odd world we live in, and notoriety is like celebrity, which is like fame, which is like publicity./And this Memorial Day, I’ll remember those mothers and fathers and uncles and acquaintances as well./As a bonus, because it’s actually quite hard to stop, there’s Mortified Stramineousness, The Sunny Season under Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, and One Has Got./It’s amazing what a costume will do./So if you want to watch footage of London-to-Paris air service in 1919 or Princess Elizabeth inspecting the damage after the Blitz, well, off you go./Since the 2004 Movie Wrap-up in this Tohu Bohu, YHB saw Very Long Engagement, which was rather nice but not as wonderful as I wanted it to be, and the first half of Life Aquatic, which was not unpleasant, but which didn’t make me want to see the rest, and as much of the unwatchable Merchant of Venice as could be stomached./You know, with charts and all.
What have we learned from this? First of all, that Your Humble Blogger is better, on the whole, at tagging a note out than at tagging one in. Perhaps I should work on that. Also, that I evidently did a Movie Wrap-Up at the end of 2005 and 2004, so I should probably do one for 2006, although it'll be pretty skimpy. Lastly, that cutting and pasting from my own Tohu Bohu is a pretty good way to make a note when I'm in the Land of Dial-up and disinclined to write much anyway.
A Merry Christmas to those Christians among my Gentle Readers and elsewhere, and to us all, peace on earth and goodwill toward all who live on it. May the Divine Creator bless us, every one.
