Wishful thinking?

Mr. Harry Barnes, the MP from North-East Derbyshire, asked in the Prime Minister's Questions the other day,

The Prime Minister will be aware that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued an appeal to the International Labour Organisation and to the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions to involve themselves in the creation of a democratic trade union movement in Iraq. Will he have words with President Bush to establish that the President also presses for this, and supports the development of a labour movement as part of the democratic movement in Iraq?

Lotsa luck, Harry.

Thank you,

*blinkblink* Sure, ask the PM whether he’ll speak with Mr. Bush on this. However, the vague idea that Mr. Bush might think labour movements a good idea suggests to me that Mr. Barnes has been asleep or otherwise Not Paying Attention. Or he’s engaging in some very subtle sarcasm that I’m missing…

    you said sarcasm!

here is some sarcasm from the 1950s. it’s a radio play starring joe mccarthy! or someone imitating him, which is outrageous and someone should do something about it.
