Now is misanthropy wrong?

Some days, more than others, it’s hard to have faith in people. And, therefore, in democracy.

The only good news is that turnout was ... well, it didn’t stink. There are 21,833,141 people in the State of California who are eligible to vote, of whom a whopping 15,380,536 actually bothered to register before September 22. Of those, perhaps seven and a half million made it to the polls. Well, I don’t really know if that counts the two million who voted absentee. Anyway, millions of people exercised their right to vote, and came together to make an unbelievably stupid decision.

Isn’t that beautiful?

Of course, my opinion is not worth any more than any of the 3 million people who clearly felt the decision was not stupid. I’m just cranky, that’s all.
