“I’m with the band”

Well, and Your Humble Blogger has a question for ... you!

Does the joke line “I’m with the band” have current resonance, or is it a 70’s thing? Or is it a retro-seventies thing? I’ve heard it pop up in unlikely sources recently, and or course for me it has connotations of drugs, oral sex, and long straight hair. Or is that just me?
