My friend Jed, who is kind enough to host this site, has made The Announcement, so know this Tohu Bohu is open for business. Welcome.
In the very next entry, Jed forwards a quote that essentially says that hawks are comparing the situation to WWII, and doves to Vietnam. The most persuasive analogy I have read recently was Adlai E. Stevenson III in the New York Times of February 7. He compares the situation after the destruction of the World Trade Towers to the one after: "...the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian archduke and his wife in 1914. Serbian nationalists behind the killings expected a reaction. But they did not expect to bring down the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Politically motivated terrorists are fanatics, not fools. Yet the empire delivered an ultimatum to Serbia, bringing on World War I and its own demise."
Of course, this analogy speaks against my support of the ultimatum, but after all, the point isn't to score, the point is to make people say "Regardless of which side you're on, this sure does make you think, doesn't it?"
Thank you, -Vardibidian.
