Book Report: Red Harvest

I first heard Personville called Poisonville by a red-haired mucker named Hickey Dewey in the Big Ship in Butte. He also called his shirt a shoit.

Your Humble Blogger mentioned Red Harvest (New York: Vintage 1989) recently. This may well be my favorite novel; mentioning it made me think about it, and thinking about it made me want to read it again, and I did, and so here it is.

If any Gentle Reader is absurdly wealthy and making lists of things to buy for random unworthies, a full set of the Black Mask originals (November 1927, December 1927, January 1928 and February 1928) would come in handy. Heck, any issue of Black Mask with a Continental Op story in it would be great.

Of course, I’d also like copies of the Saturday Evening Post issues of February and March 1923, which I’ve only seen on bad microfilm.
