Your Humble Blogger is so bad at this blogging thing. I’ve just finished listening to John Kerry’s acceptance speech, and I have a couple of pages of notes, but I still need to do a lot of thinking before I’m willing to write about it. Sorry about that.
On the night, I’ll just say this: I feel quite confident that John Kerry will be the first president of my lifetime who is better at governing than campaigning. We’ve had good presidents and bad, and we’ve even presidents who were worse campaigners, but pretty clearly his skills and gifts and especially his inclinations are not for events like these, but for the ones after he is elected.
That’s not so bad, is it?

That’s not so bad, is it?
Well, only because in this day and age, elections seem to be as much about flash as substance, and if he can’t campaign well enough, we may never get to see him govern. *sigh*
Well, and he’s getting more help from his opposition than any candidate in my lifetime, also. When was the last time a sitting president won a close election?
