Book Report: Enter Psmith

I know some of y’all are not readers of Psmith, to your everlasting shame and regret I would think, but even amongst the right-thinking Psmithies, most of y’all wouldn’t really enjoy Enter Psmith. This is proto-Psmith, Psmith at Pschool. We meet him on the very day he adds the silent P to his name, in fact, the day he arrives at a small public school and meets Mike Jackson. If we are really lunatics on the subject, we have met Mike earlier, in the first Twenty-nine chapters of Mike, where we follow the eponymous hero through his cricketing youth.

Actually, Mike’s cricketing youth was originally a separate story—you know how these went in those days, right? There was a story about Mike in a magazine of some kind, and then there was a story about Mike and Psmith in a magazine of some kind, and then the two stories were published together as a novel, and then later the back half was separated again and published as a separate novel, and that one is Enter Psmith.
