Your Humble Blogger had been waiting for the Perfect Non-Reader to get to the age where we could make Once upon a Marigold a Bedtime Book. We may have jumped the gun just a trifle—she found the romance extremely embarrassing—but I think she liked the bulk of the book just fine. It is an excellent book for Bedtime; there are lots of twists and turns and exciting cliffhangers, but the book is so fundamentally silly that even the cliffhangeriest bits are not detrimental to sleeping.
