Book Report: The Last Colony

It appears that if you search this Tohu Bohu for entries that contain the string "scalzi", you will find a list of 28 entries. Twenty-eight. It’s like YHB has a crush on him or something. Which is not true, by the way. He just writes stuff that sparks my blognotes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Scalzi’s stuff is referenced more than any other single blogger on my feed. I wouldn’t have guessed that.

Well, and our local library came up with a copy of The Last Colony. Which I enjoyed quite a bit. I mean, there were some annoying bits, including a (very good) plot twist around page eighty or so, which felt to Your Humble Blogger as if Mr. Scalzi were saying Ha! How do you like my plot twist, sucker? There were a few other places where Mr. Scalzi’s blogvoice could be heard behind the novelvoice, at least in my imagination. And the battle scenes were simply not as good as in the two previous books, but since those battle scenes were very well done indeed, that’s not so much a problem with the book as a complaint about the book, if you see the difference.

There. Twenty-nine.
