I’m not sure what to say about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There were several very nice scenes, and some rather dull ones, and a couple of actively annoying ones). One of the things I particularly like about the series is that they are schoolboy books, and this book is not a schoolboy book at all, so that’s a disappointment. Ah, well. There were two or three things that came back from the very first book (in particular, the business about not saying Voldemort, and the little clicky thingy that makes the lights go out) that will provide a nice frisson on rereads, without totally invaliding the first read.
That reread of the whole series from the beginning will likely be swift and merciless, and not begin for another three or four years. But we’ll see.
