In the ramble about airplane books, YHB forgot to mention the really dire part: I have run out of Dick Francis books. They pretty much typify airplane reading, but having read all of them several times by now, they can’t keep me occupied whilst in the air.
Still, they are, as I mentioned before, comfort books, and so I read ’em again. I paid fifty cents to a library for Twice Shy (New York: Fawcett Crest 1982); I think I donated an earlier copy to a library rather than move with it. This one may well get donated to a library as well, when it’s time to move house once more. So there you are: Dick Francis, good for libraries.
