Etymology of “Islam”
At least two sources in the past few days have indicated that the word Islam derives from the word salaam, meaning "peace." The information I have (from MW10 among other sources) indicates that Islam means "submission" (as in "submission to the will of God"), but I haven't yet found a definitive discussion of the Arabic etymology, the source of the Arabic word. Anyone know?
