Deep Thoughts
The other day, Susan mentioned "having an unexpectedly involved conversation . . . about evangelicals and John Locke" when she noticed her wall was leaking. Today she explained why she felt it necessary to mention what she was talking about when she found the wall leaking, and I was amused, because it had seemed obvious why one would mention that sort of thing: when I read the phrase, I immediately thought, "Hey, that's the kind of conversation I want to be having! Susan's one of the cool kids—she gets to have these cool conversations about, like, History, and Important Stuff. Academia is cool!"
I mean, isn't one of the points of an online journal to convince others that your conversations are cooler than theirs?
Okay, maybe not. But I did think it was cool.
