Hugo nominations
Okay, the Hugo ballot has been released (and there'll be an online nomination form soon), so now it's really time to think about Hugo nominations, as I started to discuss a couple weeks ago. An updated version of the first item in that previous entry:
If you want to nominate, you have to have been a member of the 2001 WorldCon or you have to be a member of the 2002 WorldCon. You don't have to attend; you can get a supporting membership and still nominate and vote. (Attending memberships are now $180 US. Supporting memberships are $35 US. See the ConJosé membership page for details.) If you weren't a 2001 WorldCon member and you want to nominate, you have to become a ConJosé member by January 31, 2002 (so you've still got a little time if you haven't signed up yet). Hugo ballots must be received by the committee by March 31, 2002.
Someone asked me about story lengths at SH. We've published only three novelettes:
All 39 of our other original stories published in 2001 are under 7500 words, and thus fall in the "short story" category for Hugo purposes.
(I suppose each of Ben's "Other Cities" pieces is individually eligible, but the whole set hasn't been published yet so it's not eligible as a set. Oh, and the 5 reprints we've published aren't eligible.)
