That’s service!
I sent my old PowerBook in for repairs a week ago. The place I was sending it is only about a 15-minute drive from my place, but in the opposite direction from work, so I never seemed to find time to go there during business hours, so I used the box the company supplied to FedEx it to them.
Just now, there was a knock on my door. Two guys were standing there; one of them handed me my PowerBook; the other handed me a pen and a piece of paper to sign to indicate that I'd received it. No box, no shipping; they just drove over and dropped off the computer at my apartment.
It was apparently We Fix Macs who did the work; I've had good experiences with them in the past, but they'd told me at the time that they weren't an authorized Mac repair place, so going to them would void my warranty. But this was the official extended-warranty service, which has apparently contracted with We Fix Macs. At any rate, I'm very pleased. Of course, I haven't tried it yet to see if the problem's been fixed.
