What a difference a drug makes

Good things:

  • Received galleys for my story for Mary Anne's anthology today. They're much more impressive-looking than whatever galleys I vaguely recall seeing for my previous published story. (These new ones are on big paper, nice typeface, very official-looking.)
  • The apartment managers got the plumbing problem fixed (took about four hours; glad I didn't have the plumbers try to deal with it at 1:00 this morning), and gave me a number to call in the future in case of emergency.
  • Kam dropped by this evening on her way home.

Bad things:

  • Headache much of the day. (Mostly (temporarily) alleviated by taking a painkiller; remarkable how much this improved my general outlook. Hence the entry title.)
  • Kitchen floor (lots of tiny strips of wood) has buckled due to water. Also, kitchen smells bad, and I haven't had the energy to give it a thorough cleaning.
  • Did something really stupid at work that resulted in a co-worker wasting quite a lot of time doing something that she squeezed into her schedule to accommodate my schedule. (To be fair to myself, it may not have been my fault; that's not clear yet. But at the very least I should have checked to make sure I was giving her the right information.)

Tomorrow, as they say, is another day. Perhaps it will even be one in which there are no major systems failures in my vicinity. One can hope.
