Chores and geekery
Nothing terribly much to report, really. Very busy at work, way behind on magazine stuff, that about covers it.
Today, gonna try to send out some rejections and do some editing, and probably some work-work too. Perhaps laundry as well. At some point in next few days, have to move all the furniture out of my kitchen/dining room so they can replace the damaged floor; perhaps I'll take that as an opportunity to get some cleaning done. (Ha!)
Note to self: doing dishes doesn't really take very long once you get started. It's that overcoming of inertia that's the hard part.
In other news, switched over to the new Eudora 5.1 beta for OS X this morning; pleased with it so far. Should make a lot of things easier. While trying to track down the solution to a problem I was having with it, happened across a couple of interesting-sounding newsreaders for Mac: Thoth and MacSOUP. Both shareware. The latter is of interest because it apparently does threading in the style of trn, which I sorely miss. (Though Google's newsgroup interface is pretty darn cool, I have to say.) Of course, this can only lead to problems, as it'll make me more likely to get back on Usenet; another time sink that I don't need.
With the new Retrospect (backup software) beta for OS X, it won't be long before I can move off of OS 9 almost entirely. The one big stumbling block is FrameMaker, which is my primary word processor for all purposes but particularly for work, and which Adobe says they have no plans to update for OS X. Grr.
