Still here

Huh—looks like it's been three days since I last posted. I guess I've run out of things to say.

Okay, maybe not.

Working on yet another deadline for work. Also, am visiting Mary Anne in Salt Lake City. Plan is to do a bit more work today, take weekend entirely off (visiting Zion and Bryce), work some more next week, then spend a few vacation days hanging out here.

Getting on the plane last night was still a little stressful, but nowhere near as much so as the last time I flew. Spent most of the flight reading the first half of Ray Vukcevich's short-story collection Meet Me in the Moon Room, which arrived in the mail yesterday morning. Very nice so far. I'm really pleased that we'll be printing one of his stories. (My only real complaint about the book so far is that every time I read the title, it starts running through my head to the tune of a bluegrass/gospelish song called "Take Me in a Lifeboat." "Meet me in the mooooon room, Lord, meet me in the moon roo-oom. . . ." My brain does this—a particular rhythm and phrasing gets so strongly associated with a tune that anything else to the same rhythm and/or with similar phrasing gets assigned to that tune. It would make me a good filker if it had any coherent semantic content, but no, it's just phrases. "Take care of the sounds and the sense will take care of itself"—sadly, not so true.)

No other news to speak of, I think.
