Camera and windstorm

This morning I was late to a meeting at work, 'cause I was buying a camera.

I stopped at the classy camera store in Palo Alto (where I bought my previous camera, a little point-and-shoot film camera, about seven years ago; the father of a friend of mine works there) and looked at the various Canon Digital Elph cameras they had, and settled on the one I'd expected to choose: the latest model, the S230. 3 megapixel resolution, small enough to easily fit in a shirt pocket, shorter delay between pressing the shutter button and taking the picture than any of the previous models.

Made me happy. (Didn't hurt that I'd spent part of the morning reading more of Welcome to Temptation. The book makes me think a lot about genre conventions, but that's another topic. Maybe for an editorial. Anyway, it follows the standard Romance genre conventions, to an extent that makes me roll my eyes now and then, but on the other hand the writing is great, the characters are engaging and real, the dialogue is excellent and witty, and somehow the book just makes me happy. When I'm done with it I may have to pick up more Crusie to keep me in a good mood through the winter.)

Hrm, that paragraph kinda got away from me, didn't it? Let's try again. The camera made me happy; the sunshine likewise; just generally in a good mood for much of the morning.

A mood which was only slightly dampened by discovering midafternoon that iPhoto won't recognize my new camera to import photos from it. Sigh. I have other ways to transfer photos, they're just not as convenient.

Anyway. I think it's time for me to head home. I'm still at work, largely because the Bay Area's having what passes for a big storm in these parts and I figured the freeways would be slow long past the usual end of rush hour. But staying here is a little nervous-making, because about once a minute, gusts of wind shake the entire building. I think I'll go brave the freeways.

In the morning, it's off to the east coast for a long weekend of debauchery fun with SWIL. May or may not post during the next few days. In case I don't, have a good weekend!
