We can’t get them for you wholesale

Here's how things are in Texas:

It's illegal to "wholesale promote" obscene materials or devices. Texas statute says an obscene device is a simulated sexual organ or an item designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs. The law allows investigators to assume that anyone with six or more of the items is intending to promote them.

In other words, in Texas, if you own more than five dildos or other items designed to stimulate the genitals, you can be put in jail for up to two years. (I wonder if your own built-in genitals can count towards the six. Seems to me they could be considered to be designed as useful primarily for the stimulation of other genitals, at least if you believe in evolution-by-design.) And sure enough, a woman in Longview, Texas, who was arrested for driving erratically, has now been charged with felony obscenity for carrying 17 "items," most of which were apparently "lotions" and dildos. See this Longview News-Journal article for more. I'm amused at the article's attempts to avoid having to use the word dildo.

Thanks to Luke for the pointer.
