World AIDS Day and such
Sunday was World AIDS Day. A nice little entry about it at uffish thoughts.
Also at uffish: an interesting discussion of the Supremes taking on the Texas sodomy case.
I am pretty well insulated from the world these days. I didn't notice it was World AIDS Day 'til it was over. I didn't know about the sodomy case.
I somehow can't muster much hope that this particular Supreme Court is going to overturn any sodomy laws. But we'll see. The uffish piece does make it sound more possible than I would've expected.
We've got a story coming up in a few months at SH that would make a really good World AIDS Day story, but I don't want to hold onto it 'til next December. Similarly, we've got a Halloween story that we won't be waiting 'til October to run. I should probably put five-months-ahead reminders on my calendar for holidays that we could run stories for, and post notes saying "Hey! Send us stories now for such-and-such holiday!"
I'm not sure what my point is, or whether I have one. Maybe partly that one reason I haven't been talking politics much here recently is that I've been practicing being an ostrich. Stick head in sand, maybe it'll all go away. Sigh.
I wish I had some answers. Some viable answers, I mean.
