Escheresque and journalism

Kam pointed me to a very nicely done piece of Escheresque art. It's billed as a "photo" but it kinda looks painted to me—but maybe some elements are from photographs, not sure. Anyway, I like it.

I don't know its provenance. It appears as a former "Today's Photo" on the site of a bicycle shop in Madison; most of their photos appear to be of bicycle frames and such, but there are a couple other cute items, such as a photo of a newspaper clipping that says:

. . . writers need a good reason to inject themselves into the story. (The Wall Street Journal used to have a useful rule: You may begin an article with the word "I" only if you were shot in the groin reporting the story.)

Of course, that's more relevant to journalism than to fiction.
