Rainbows
One nice thing about all the rain the Bay Area's been getting lately is that I hear the whole area, except San José, is finally up to normal rainfall levels for the year.
Another nice thing is all the rainbows. Lots of rainbows and half-rainbows. Good stuff.
The other morning I was driving to work during a pause in the light rain. Cars were tossing water up off the road surface in a fine mist. And I glanced off to my left and realized that there was a rainbow hovering just above the freeway maybe a dozen yards ahead and a couple of lanes to the left. It kept pace with me as I drove. It was hard to keep an eye on while driving, and it wavered in and out as the mist density changed, but it really did look like a rainbow was leaping from the freeway into the sky. I've never seen anything like it before. The end of the rainbow, right there on 101 North. Who knew?
I didn't see any pots of gold, though.
