The sorry net of “maybe” and “perhaps”

While looking for something entirely unrelated, I just stumbled across this cool little passage from Yeats on "The Untiring Ones," sort of about the benefits of unmixed emotions. It doesn't lend itself to easy excerpting, but it's short—only three paragraphs, though two of them fairly long—and it tells two brief fairytales that I've never seen before, at least not in these versions. I'm tickled by the ending of the second one, but it works better in context so I won't quote it here.
