Miss Selene
(Title pun stolen from Finder.)
Exhausted. Reading subs; down to only 14 to go from the week I'm currently reading, but fortunately I started with the long ones so almost all of what's left are short; I should be able to get through 'em in a couple hours mañana.
Various other projects to work on over the weekend, stuff I should've done last weekend. Mostly database stuff, though, so interesting and educational. Also if I think of it I may try out some changes to my journal layout: been meaning to try on a variant of the alistapart standardized stylesheet, to make my entries come up looking more like paragraphs of printed text, and I keep meaning to mock up an RSS feed for SH so I can put the current table of contents in a sidebar. Shouldn't take long to do, I just keep forgetting to do it.
Two fun-sounding events to choose from on Saturday night, but if I'm as tired then as now I may just stay home from both and go to bed early. Which is what I'm going to do tonight, soon as I finish posting entries.
A couple things I've been meaning to mention about LiveJournal:
- They just provided the ability for free accounts to subscribe to (a limited number of) syndicated accounts; it used to be that you could add a syndicated account to your Friends list only if you had a paid account, but now you can do that even if you have a free account. If you have an LJ account and want to read my journal as part of your Friends page (the formatting won't be as good, though), you can go to the jedediah page and add it to your Friends list. Interesting tidbit about LJ's approach to syndicated content: the more people who subscribe to a given syndicated feed, the fewer points that feed costs each reader. (You get a certain number of points to spend on subscribing to things.)
- Sorry for any repeats that come through on LJ. I thought I'd determined that it was smart enough to replace old versions of entries with the new edited versions, but apparently not.
And speaking of online forums featuring me me me!, Elizabeth Bear (who, btw, indirectly pointed me to Neil Gaiman's brief attempt at Smeagol/Gollum slash (search on that page for "Gollum")) recently revived my long-dormant Rumor Mill author topic, which has turned into a zany den of mayhem, infamy, bonbons, and undead unicorns in the few days since I last stopped by the Mill. Fun stuff.
(And, okay, because I'm being egocentric this week, I'll just say that I get a total kick out of being listed in people's blogs-I-read section next to Neil Gaiman and Patrick Nielsen Hayden, so thanks, folks!)
Where was I? Okay, I think I'd better put the rest of tonight's musings in another entry.
