PayPal scam

Btw, if you get email that purports to be from PayPal and it wants you to fill in a form (a form in the email message itself, not on the web—this is irrelevant to those of you who don't use HTML-enabled email software) that includes your credit card number, don't do it.

It's a scam. Everything about the email looks official, including the return address and the logo and various links to the PayPal site, but if you click the submit-the-form button, your credit card info is sent to a scammer.

Never ever use a PayPal form that arrives in email. And if you go to a PayPal page to fill in a form because of something emailed to you, always check the URL in your browser to make sure that the domain name ends in "paypal.com/" (with nothing else before the slash! "paypal.com.scammer.bozo.com/" is no good!).

Thanks for the warning, Jed. I got two of those emails shortly after I read your entry. Don’t think I would have entered any info, but it’s always good to have someone corroborating the little voice in my head. 🙂
