Plane tickets
Finally got plane tickets for WorldCon last night. The good news is that the flight times I wanted were available and not too insanely expensive, even though the return flight is on the evening of Labor Day. (Mary Anne's return flight is apparently really really early that morning, which made me think everything else was probably sold out.) The bad news is that the price is significantly higher than it was a month ago when I was on the verge of getting tickets but got sidetracked by (a) thinking for some reason that there were two Toronto airports and I wasn't sure which one to fly into (turns out there's only one international one, Pearson, aka YYZ), and (b) hoping to use a discount-airfare coupon because I hadn't read the small print that said Labor Day was a blackout day.
The moral is what it always is: make travel plans and buy plane tickets early. I seem to be incapable of doing this. Perhaps I should hire a secretary to do these things for me.
Anyway, the main reason I'm posting this is to indicate that (a) it's not too late to get plane tickets to and from Toronto for that weekend, but (b) it may well be too late pretty soon, as I suspect that's an awfully busy travel day. (But maybe not for traveling back from Toronto, I don't know.) Also, (c) the low fares due to SARS scares are no longer available.
