Writing day

Spent much of this morning talking with Mary Anne about a possible story collaboration. I've been thinking a fair bit lately about writing—I have half an idea for a story for Mary Anne's Blowfish anthology, and there's an unrelated story I've been intending to have ready for critiquing at each of my last two or three workshop meetings, and then the whole Mars thing sparked various thoughts about other unrelated stuff that would be fun to write.

But all of that has been thinking about writing rather than actually writing. Tonight after watching Frida (interesting movie, which I may write more about later), I decided to work on this story that I have to have ready by a week from now to send to workshop.

And I ended up writing an entire segment of it, about a thousand words, in about an hour and a half, including some web-research time. I'm even pretty pleased with how it came out, though that may partly be because it's late and I'm tired.

I'm hoping I can finish another segment tomorrow. Then I need to go find and read a book or two before I can write the rest of them.
