Plurals
Joe pointed recently to a cool Straight Dope article on how to correctly form plurals of various words and various types of words. It's long, but worth reading, especially if you think that virii is the plural of virus. Or if you want to use the correct plural for penis.
Unrelatedly: Food, dieting, and weight-loss seem to be big topics in various places lately, from Mary Anne's journal to Joe's. I was momentarily surprised by the coincidence, but then remembered that it's the beginning of January, a traditional time for both trying new things and attempting to get rid of weight gained during the holidays.
