Hitchhiker’s movie?

It appears that there's a movie of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in the works.

If that site can be believed, the cast-so-far is interesting:

  • Martin Freeman (who played John in Love Actually—the male porn-movie stand-in) as Arthur
  • Rapper/actor Mos Def as Ford (I've seen him recently in The Italian Job and Bamboozled and Monster's Ball, but I like him best for his and Talib Kweli's Thieves in the Night (lyrics) (my favorite line: "Your firearms are too short to box with God")
  • Sam Rockwell (Guy from Galaxy Quest; Eric from the first Charlie's Angels movie) as Zaphod
  • Warwick Davis (Flitwick from Harry Potter, but probably better known as Willow from Willow) as Marvin
  • And Zooey Deschanel (female romantic lead in Elf; she has a very nice singing voice) as Trillian.

Original screenplay by Douglas Adams, with later drafts by others.

Directed by Garth Jennings, who's never directed a feature film before (at least not in the IMDB, at least not under that name), but who's apparently half of "Hammer & Tongs," which appears to be a British duo who direct music videos.

Very odd.

Thanks to Jillian for the pointer.

I’ve got nothing against Davis, but I really don’t think he has the gravitas to play Marvin. I would have thought more like maybe John Hurt.
