Wild Things 2?

I should start by saying that, imo, the movie Wild Things is quite good. The image on the box makes it look like soft-core porn, but—well, the only thing I can say about the movie without spoilers is that at no point is the movie what you think it is.

I would recommend it highly, except that I've recently run into some people who didn't like it. I think someone recently said it was a good movie that was ruined by the ending; whereas I would say the ending is brilliant. (And you have to keep watching through the credits for full effect.)

So if you didn't like Wild Things, the following question is not for you.

My question: Is Wild Things 2 worth watching?

I rented it the other day, 'cause I suspected that I wouldn't be able to get anyone else to reliably tell me whether I would like it. I'll still probably watch it, just out of curiosity. But the IMDB is not reassuring. The sequel was direct-to-video, it doesn't seem to have been made by anyone associated with the original movie, it got a much lower average score than the first one. It's probably terrible.

But I figured it was worth asking about, just in case someone else who really liked the first one has seen the second one and can provide a thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

I'll certainly go into it with low expectations, if I watch it at all.

    I personally didn’t like the first one too much. The ending I found a bit overdone, all that uncoiling of conspiracy made me roll my eyes a bit.

    As for the second one, I looked at it and it looked like a borderline soft-core porn with almost the exact same plot. Same thing with the second Final Destinations (the first of which I didn’t really like, despite all the hype it got) movie, I didn’t actually see the second one but based on the trailers it looked like it was the exact same thing as the first one, only with different people.

    But it’s Hollywood, I’ve learned not to expect much out of what comes out of there. I let the few gems act as a pleasant surprise.

    I enjoyed the first one a lot — it’s a touch trashy but also lively and sharp and fun, and the actors are all worth watching the whole time, and I enjoy the over-the-top plot twists.

    I haven’t seen II so I can’t make a pro or con recommendation. From what I can tell, it looks to have none of the qualities of the first movie except the “trashy”, so I plan to skip it. I can get into trashy teen flicks sometimes, but this one just looks boring.
