Items: Stillness in motion

A few quick items I've been meaning to post for a while. From the ridiculous to the sublime to the timesink:

  • Evil Clown Generator. You can use the buttons at the top, but the most fun thing is to drag your mouse pointer across the face and watch it change. Also, you gotta like any set of instructions that ends with: "3. Stop when you've created the most evil clown face possible." (Requires Flash.)
  • Ian's Spoke POV: how to build a device that, using LEDs and the miracle of Persistence Of Vision, displays a glowing still image inside a spinning bicycle wheel. Astonishing and lovely. And amusing that the phrase "Spoke POV" sounds to me more like something having to do with writing.
  • Planarity, the puzzle game that's sweeping the web. Drag connected points until the lines between them no longer overlap. Addictive and fascinating, simple in concept but complex in execution, and increasingly frustrating (in a good way) as the levels progress. I think I stopped somewhere around level 9 or 10, but I don't remember for sure. I think it's supposed to be hosted at planarity.net long-term, but isn't there right now due to technical difficulties. (Requires Flash, I think.)

Okay, must dash (in slow motion).

Okay, I got stuck on Level 3 of Planarity. But I didn’t try for very long. I quickly realized that it would drive me completely insane, so I abandoned it before madness set in. Perhaps I’ll try again when I’ve had more sleep.

Also, I love the Evil Clown Generator.

And also, have a great time at WorldCon!
