Our Only President allowed himself to Meet the Press yesterday, in the person of Tim Russert. Your Humble Blogger took a pass.
It’s the biggest news of the day, though. It’s as if the only opportunity to examine the President’s record, his statements, and his character is when he is on television. I hope all my Gentle Readers are aware that the president gives a brief talk on the radio every week; the transcripts and audio are available through the White House web site. The radio counts, too.
Also, everything, and I mean everything, Our Only President says in public is recorded and compiled by the Library of Congress, in weekly doses, and is available on the internet. If you thought it was odd that he brought up steroids in the State of the Union, well, he brought it up again a few days later while talking to the World Champion Florida Marlins (and his good buddy Jeffrey H. Loria).
I’m not knocking the Meet the Press interview. It just seems to be a Big Deal, and it isn’t, or shouldn’t be.

I suspect that it’s not a matter of getting to hear what the President has to say, but rather the fact that he seldom gives press conferences. He talks on the radio, he talks to Jeffrey H Loria, but he doesn’t often talk to reporters.
