Southwest
So I called Southwest to find out if the plane would be on time. Was on hold for a while, then a woman answered the phone.
Me: I wanted to check on the status of flight 1192 to San Jose?
Her: Departing from where?
Me: Los Angeles.
Her (as she looked up the flight info): You have a nice voice.
. . . I was a bit bemused. But also oddly pleased; that exchange kept me smiling most of the way to the airport. It's entirely possible that she literally says that to all the callers; Southwest employees tend to be good at making scripted stuff sound spontaneous. But still.
Between that and the astonishingly good service at Don Giovanni's the other night, I'm beginning to wonder if my Customer Service Demon is on vacation. Or maybe it's just saving up for something truly awful.
